Well, I’ve never done this before, but I’m introducing on this blog words written solely by my friend. Her name is Margaret Ann. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have and watch the video linked at the bottom.

“I just read the prologue of the book; Practicing the Presence of People. The author talks about spending a few minutes before boarding an airplane with his elderly parents. He normally is completely distracted and anxious to end the uncomfortable exchange between the threesome in which “blood is the only thing they have in common.” But something took place that deeply affected him and would haunt him for years to come. For a brief moment he felt as if everything faded away except the glow of his parents. It was as if he was falling in love. Later, as he reflected on this strange and wonderful phenomenon, he knew that it had something to do with his will. He chose for a few minutes to practice the presence of people, in a very similar way of practicing the presence of the Lord. He would, years later, learn of this through Brother Lawrence, and in time the Lord would lead him into the journey of love by practicing the presence of people.

“I watched the following mini movie after reading the prologue and saw again the importance of our choosing. Choosing to love. Choosing to say yes to giving of ourselves, to living for Love, through Love. How to do this is our journey on this side of eternity, how to walk in love, stepping where He steps and becoming more and more like Him, Jesus, Love incarnate.

“How many letters have I thrown away because of fear; fear of what man will think of me, fear of rejection, fear of being misunderstood? It is a risk to love, becoming vulnerable, transparent, weak. Yet this is the way of love. This is the way of the cross. This is what it looks like to be conformed to His image. “though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.” (2 Cor. 8:9)

“Today, this moment I choose love. I don’t have yesterday. I don’t have tomorrow. I just have this moment. So, this moment I choose love, and if I choose love this moment, possibly I will choose love the next moment, and moments will turn to hours, and hours to days, and days to a lifetime of choosing love.”
